Generally massage sessions are about an hour in length. You should arrive as close as possible to your scheduled appointment time. It is best not to have eaten just before a session. You will be asked to fill out a case history form so that we can ensure that your treatments will give you the maximum benefit.
Your therapist will bring you to your treatment room and discuss your case history form, the massage procedures and answer any questions you may have. The therapist will leave to room at this point to give you complete privacy. You should remove your clothing to your level of comfort. There will be a sheet on the massage table to cover your body. To respect personal privacy and provide adequate warmth, you will be covered or draped with a sheet or towel at all times so that only the part of your body being worked on is exposed at any given time.
Conversation with your therapist during a session depends on your needs at the time. Some clients need to talk. Some need silence. Our therapists will try to accommodate your needs. However, sometimes talking detracts from entering a state of relaxation or experiencing the full physical or emotional dimensions of the massage. In any case, feel comfortable giving feedback about your needs and what you like or do not like during the session. Good communication enhances the massage session.
We usually play soft music during our treatments to enhance this feeling of relaxation. Some clients feel that it's a distraction, while others enjoy it. The choice is yours.
The therapist will use a high quality oil or lotion, but if you have any allergies you should let the therapist know. You may have many other questions or concerns before, during or after your session. Feel free to discuss them with your therapist.
After your session is over, be sure to drink plenty of water. Massage releases toxins trapped in your muscles and water helps flush them away. You may relax and rebalance yourself in your treatment room, and then step out into the world, revitalized and re-energized!
