Spa 101 - Let's talk about waxing!

Let’s talk about waxing. Summer might be officially over tomorrow but we know you like to keep things smooth year-round. We are here to give you some tips to ensure you have the best waxing experience.

  1. Hair length: the length of the hair is crucial. Hair must be AT LEAST 1/4” - 1/2” inch (think of a grain of rice) by the time you come in for your appointment. This can take 3-5 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows. The hair needs to be the right length so it can stick to the wax. It’s how this whole thing works! If the hair isn’t long enough at the time of your appointment, we will have to reschedule.

  2. Shaving: We understand it is oh so tempting to shave in-between waxing, but please don’t. It may take a few rounds of waxing to get on a good schedule, but once you are on the right schedule for your hair growth, you won’t need that razor anymore. Plus, see above.

  3. Pain: we aren’t going to try and sugar coat this for you, waxing can be uncomfortable. Okay, it hurts. Some people are naturally more sensitive than others. We do sell a numbing cream that many clients swear by. We ask that you do not consume alcohol prior to your appointment. And keep in mind that hormonal changes can affect your sensitivity.

  4. Just ask: This is still a new experience for many people, and we understand that. Please do not be afraid to ask questions to our front desk staff or your Esthetician. We find that more information is better for an excellent client experience. We want you to feel comfortable and relaxed during your time with us. Well, as relaxed as you can be getting waxed.
